I've tried about half a dozen small AA solar chargers and they've all disappointed in one way or another. Either they're flimsy and break too easily, or they take two days to charge a couple of AA batteries. They all seem to share the same weaknesses, with the occasional trade-off for one or two strengths. This one is an exception. Not only is it far more durable than the competition, it appears to have a much better load capacity. Most ways you could break your typical AA charger won't work on this thing. It is flexible and long drops have no effect. It doesn't look like you can hack or smash the panels. The wiring is safely hidden. I can't see how I'm going to break this unless I really tune into it. The loading time seems to be significantly shorter than that of the competition. I haven't done anything empirical, but it seems to charge my Eneloop much faster than other chargers I have and have had in the past. As a bonus, it charges more USB devices than some of the other chargers I have. It should be noted that you need batteries for this. I love this one so much I ordered its AA only cousin (4xAA charger) to increase my charging capacity. I finally found a charger that I can trust.
