Great solar charger

I've tried about half a dozen small AA solar chargers and they've all disappointed in one way or another. Either they're flimsy and break too easily, or they take two days to charge a couple of AA batteries. They all seem to share the same weaknesses, with the occasional trade-off for one or two strengths. This one is an exception. Not only is it far more durable than the competition, it appears to have a much better load capacity. Most ways you could break your typical AA charger won't work on

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • I'll write back later

Solar charger that works

I'm not sure why this product only gets one star from the reviewers, I definitely think it's a great product, yes it is for most A bit expensive folks, but it works. First of all, I want to tell you, dear reader, what I have loaded on this device. An iTouch, a Sony eReader, two Blackberry devices and anything that connects to a regular USB cable via mini USB. A large battery or group of smaller batteries will not charge. This is only for charging small USB powered devices such as cell phonesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Pretty much everything is fine

I burned my iPhone 3GS

I really wanted to like this device after reading the reviews. I bought it for hiking to power both AA batteries that my GPS uses and the iPhone 3GS that I carry with me for music and communication. my trip to Yosemite. I used more powerful 2400mW batteries. I tried charging my iPhone the first night and the iPhone complained it was an incompatible charger. However, it appeared to be powering the phone (the power connector, not the lightning bolt icon on the battery) so I left it plugged in soโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

It could have been better to charge AA and AAA batteries. It can charge more than 2 batteries at the same time. In the future I will upgrade if this company comes out with something better. An outlet would be nice to charge something. I solved this problem by buying a USB charger to take with me to charge the AAA flashlight batteries. You must have batteries in the Sol charger for the USP jack to work. Maybe that will be fixed in the future. The block is light. You never know what might happen.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • No instructions

Great product but do a little count before you buy

I bought this to always have a good battery in my GPS (uses two AAs) and mobile phone (uses 3.7v 850mah ) for work during the week. Bike tours like GOBA. It turns out it's so small I keep it in my emergency repair kit all the time. I leave the batteries out of the unit as the USB charger draws ยฝmA with no load. This will drain the batteries in about six months. You should probably do some math before you buy. The product description lacks detailed specifications (why only four stars), so here's

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No power

Better than expected.

I know that solar chargers can't be that powerful and fragile, but I decided to risk it because I really like this concept. I couldn't be happier! Very, very versatile. Rugged design, super light, folds compact enough to fit in your pocket, charges AA and USB devices (using AA power). I hang it on the window before bed and when I go to work the batteries are fully charged. I've been experimenting with this to see how good it is - I've mostly bought it for camping and when I'm traveling for work

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Secret
