Do your research, didn't work on my tundra!

It didn't work for my 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7 sr5... I spent hours taking the truck apart to replace this part and then putting everything back together. After making sure everything was hooked up and reassembled I went to start the truck up to check if the original codes were gone only to find my 4lo, RCSA, engine check and traction control lighted up along with 16 new codes ! I cleared the codes and then where 11! Disconnected battery for a day then 7 codes. Tried to reset codes, no! Called the local store (they have an 8k code reader) and they tried to delete. Nothing worked. called the dealer who had it for 6 hours and said they needed to replace the entire system as they tried 4 times to clear the ECM and the truck was stuck in limp mode... After some research I found out that this Dorman -Part is not OEM, the datasheet and electronics above MAY NOT communicate properly with the ECM and therefore generate a bunch of codes. Ended up buying a Toyota part, ripping it apart and putting it all back together (second time took about an hour) and lo and behold all codes are gone, coming out of limp mode and working perfectly! At the dealer I paid 309€ for the part. , and $40 for a new inner tube to keep water out, and I want to buy a Toyota from scratch. According to some technicians, they all said that Toyota's electronic tolerances are so tight that they often run into aftermarket problems with the electronics.

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Everything is great
