Very inviting appearance that draws you to it.

I am homeschooling a 5th grader who hates to write. He loves the journal and we look forward to using them. The appearance is so inviting, like it's calling you to open it. It looks and feels like leather, kind of stiff but I think it will soften with use. The paper is wide rule and vintage looking. The journal looks very nautical with the compass on front and the anchor and ships wheel charms on the straps. Small enough to put in a backpack for exploring nature trails and taking notes about plants ect. I hope it proves to be durable but only time will tell that. I would absolutely buy for gift giving. It's a great price and well worth the money.
