I have a new Sony TV and like other new TVs it has no audio outputs. I bought these to be able to use my old Sennheiser headphones and Vizio soundbar simultaneously and independently and the TV speakers. After reading a review from another buyer who was looking for the same result, I decided on this splitter and am very happy with the results. I connected the splitter to the TV with the supplied optical cable, plugged the supplied power cable into one of the USB ports on the TV, connected the soundbar to the splitter via the optical cable, first the headphones with the optical-to-analog converter connected (also bought from Revain) and then connected the optical end to this splitter. Works great with my new Sony and I didn't have to upgrade to a soundbar with ARC. There are no delays in sound and picture, everything is in sync and perfect. Oh yeah, I originally bought an HDMI ARC adapter (to connect non-ARC to ARC) hoping I could connect my soundbar that way, but it didn't work so I went back and got one instead get this one. If you don't mind using a separate control for the soundbar, this is a very good solution.
