Overall 3 stars. Installation - zero stars, daily use - 4-5 stars

This is a schizophrenic product. Everything is fine after installation, but the installation process and hardware are missing. I bought and installed three of these, and here's what I found out: First, ditch the mounting screws that came with them, they're cheap, soft, and snap off too easily. I'm a hands on guy and on the first hinge I attached all three screws with the plates removed but waited until they were screwed in deep enough that the heads of the screws were below the surface of the hinge (bottom in insert) so they couldn't be reached. Pliers to remove and I had to drill them out with bits to remove the stripped screws. Big pain. I ended up using a screw similar to the "Hard to Fasten Hardware 014973151270 Square Drive Deck Screws, 1-5/8", Pack of 60 which can be found here at Revain but was purchased at my local big box. The color doesn't match but since the screws are in it's not very noticeable.Second, ignore the included installation instructions which advise you to use their paper template to place the mounting tabs, instead install the bottom hinges where they are should be and then attach the gate to the bottom hinges. Now attach the top hinges to the gate and slide into place and then simply screw into place. Voila, perfect fit. Third, the manufacturer hasn't decided yet how to install when working on the bottom trim The bottom hinge needs to be flush with the floor/carpet or the whole thing will hang Gate in such a way that pulling on it (by a child, dog or an unsafe adult) may cause the product to bend. The design dictates that the crossbar connecting the two sides under the entrance must rest on the floor, and this requires the bottom hinges to be on or near the floor. I've seen reviews of people installing their bottom hinges over the fairing, but as far as I can see this will only result in a wait-for-a-crash scenario. One of my install locations had work on the lower fairing and to complete the installation I did the following: - Mounted the lower hinges directly into the fairing. This was easy to achieve with the square head screws mentioned above, with the caveat that my trimming work had a concave area and I had to be sure not to over tighten the screws or they could pull the loop in and bend or maybe even break it it. For the top hinges, I made a spacer out of two 1/4" square pieces of plywood stacked on top of each other (like a stack of pancakes). the top loop from the wall at a distance roughly equal to the gap left when working with of the bottom trim is created. I have included pictures of the top and bottom hinges for this particular setup. Note that the raw, unfinished look of the top hinge gasket would have been the result of 30 minutes of milling, sanding and painting the wood prior to installing the gate Can be improved, but I haven't had the time or time to let the paint dry.) Given that these gates are temporary while we smash our pup, we're pretty happy with the relatively unfinished look. Luckily, there was no fine-tuning on the other two installation locations, so the installation was even easier. Please note that ic h using the installation method described in the beginning (without using their templates and using square head screws) it took me less than 10 minutes to install each of the gates with no rework. Now that they are installed we love these gates. They're fairly easy to open with one hand once you get the hang of it, and there's an automatic closing mechanism that closes the gate behind you with an authoritative (but not overly loud) sound*. You can also open the door wide until it stays open if needed. Bottom line, things are great in use, but assembly is lacking due to the poor quality of the mounting screws and the lack of any instructions. (or design changes) to accommodate the very common situation where work on the lower fairing affects the installation. If I had to do it again, I would buy it, but I'd bite the bullet.
