I was hoping to find a quality filter under 3M. Nordic Pure is not. /4 (ONE QUARTER) filter area compared to a 3M 2200 filter (Nordic Pure has 25 "pleats", 3M has over 100 pleats.) Why is this a problem? As the filtration efficiency increases (ie captures smaller and smaller particles), it is necessary to increase the surface area. You do this by folding the filter into folds. Why is it important? Because if you only have 25 pleats and high-efficiency filter media, the pressure drop will be very high - in other words, the Nordic Pure Merv 13 will whistle and kink violently when my 1000cfm unit tries to force air through it. The 3M 2200 filter was much less severe. (because its surface is 4 times larger due to the folds). I am a firm believer in Nordic Pure defining their own filter media rather than designing a complete filter for home HVAC use. Also, Nordic Pure filters are not the advertised size. 19 5/8x29 5/8. Not 20x30. I spoke to MFG who actually agreed that MERV 123 might be too restrictive. I gave them back to Revane.
