This 3.8 liter engine jerked and wobbled while driving. It displayed the Check Engine warning light and set DTC P0406. This replacement EGR valve was ordered on Friday 26th July and arrived on Monday 5th August. Total cost was $40.92 and included two replacement gaskets for the ports on the valve. . It was installed on Tuesday 6th August. An OBD test kit was used to clear DTC P0406 which has not returned after three months and the engine is running normally. Installation note: The position of the EGR valve in the engine compartment at the rear of the generator makes access to the fastening screws more difficult. Rather than removing the alternator to allow installation, a portion of the alternator housing was sawed off just enough to make room for a small ratchet wrench with an extension to remove and reinstall the bolts.
