So far I have had excellent results with this lens on my 20D. I have a 50mm 1.8, a manual Nikon 100mm 2.8 with an EOS adapter and an older (non-IS) 18-55mm kit lens. The 24mm lens was the perfect addition to my setup, complementing my main lenses and replacing my kit lens. I've debated whether a 28mm lens would be a better deal (20-30% cheaper) but I think the wider angle, especially with a cropped sensor, was worth it. I just took 200 shots with my newborn nephew in the hospital in low indoor lighting (too dim for a kit lens) and I was very happy with the aperture and field of view of the lens. This lens is excellent for head shots with a ring light. Close enough that only someone's face is in the frame (1.5-2.5 feet), there is some facial distortion, but I don't find it uncomfortable and actually prefer it at times. Compared to the 50mm 1.8 Mk II, the build quality is excellent. , with a metal mount, a much more secure feel and much better manual focus. Manual focus isn't as smooth as my Nikon or L-series manual lens, but I'm happy with it. I don't remember the minimum focus distance, but it's a lot shorter than a 50mm lens, but not as short as a kit lens. It is ideal for close-ups of a flower against a landscape. I recently "discovered" Canon Digital Photo Professional's RAW conversion software, but unfortunately this lens is not in the list of lenses that can be used. Adjust distortion and CA for. I haven't found that I need these settings, but would like to see what they can do. Overall I'd recommend the lens, but if you're on a budget the 28mm lens, while I haven't used it, might not be a bad compromise.
