Terrible when it doesn't suit you, amazing when it suits you.

Chaco's longevity is undeniable, but after so many years I really expected better engineering to come. Let me be clear if this product works for you it is probably a 4 star product ready to use and 5 stars after about 6 months. The straps will be comfortable and the slightly annoying insole will eventually break and feel great. It also lasts forever and when it finally wears out you can replace the sole or straps for a fraction of the cost of a new pair. The problem is that for a product that's been around for so long, Chaco refuses to solve simple problems. that occur when you wear half-size shoes or, like me, you don't like it when the heel of a pair of extreme terrain sandals sits too far back. Heel loop, HO, sewn onto the risers just in front of the heel. This means that the length of the heel loop and therefore the position of the heel is fixed. The position of the toe is also fixed as it is a hole in the sole. All of this means that the distance between the two ends that your footrest rests on is fixed and cannot be adjusted. So if you are a half size in their product, you either have a loose heel or a toe that is halfway to the toe. None of them are suitable for extreme use. You can gently tighten and pull the strap closer, but it never feels right. If $100 sandals didn't exist, I might consider ripping out the threads that sew the strap in place since the riser it goes through is actually closed. the loop itself. Come on Chaco, I'd happily pay double for an adjustable heel loop so I don't have to buy your competitor's sandals that I'll have to throw away in a year! Also, they are a bit narrow. This isn't a negative point, but maybe try a wider version if your base doesn't fit.
