I have a 30 gallon goldfish tank that i know has way too many fish but i love my orand collection. This product is great for helping me control my ammonia levels between water changes. Although it's not in the instructions, I think the best way is to turn off the filter, add AmGuard, then wait 15 minutes for it to dissolve in the water, then take a water sample, then plug the filter back in and the ammonia level should be dropped. which is fast. It may not be 0, but it is lower than when you started. For example I tested at 4ppm and after disconnecting my filter, adding AmGuard, waiting 15 minutes and reconnecting the filter the reading dropped to 0.5 or 0.25ppm. It really is measured work!
