Damn cool coaster for the price

Compared to the [MAJOR BRAND] coaster we have at work, I use it every time. MUCH better build quality, MUCH better fit and finish, MUCH nicer all around and MUCH less money. [BIG BRAND] sells a stack of cheap stamped steel with labels for a few hundred dollars just because they can. This stand is actually made from billet aluminum that is machined with smooth, soft corners and then sandblasted to a smooth texture. Linear bearings move smoothly on parallel rods, and everything is so high quality that I don't even think about using that blue junk in the store. The dial indicators that come with it aren't Starrett or Mitutoyo (you can feel the dial posts, but overall the movement is smooth, not grainy or crunchy), but they work to get the job done as these are all relative measurements of the stroke, not absolute values . I almost made my own coaster for the house from my stash but for the price I decided to give this coaster a try. I'm very glad I did because for the price I couldn't have done better. I have a couple of old Schwinn tires that I had to lace up and this thing really impressed me as a complete set. Oh, and I edited the actual brand name for obvious reasons. However, the price premium for hundreds of dollars of cheap offshore stamping metal is out of the question. When you buy an offshore product (and you do) you can spend your money on something of high quality. This stand is of good quality. Money well spent for an excellent product.
