Review on CST Caldera Folding Tire: Enhanced Performance for Easy Portability by Corey Owens

Revainrating 3 out of 5

cst caldera 700x25 foldable

bought this tire to replace a schwalbe durano plus which was wearing out after winter use but still got a few flats despite being a really solid albeit heavy tyre. However, on the Caldera first impressions were good, seated well on the rim and felt cool, weight was as advertised in the marketing ad. I do 165 miles a week on pretty bad roads and I've had a tire blow out twice in three weeks, the last one cut the tire so bad I had to swap it out for another Schwalbe tyre, this time a Lugano folding tyre, so only three For weeks the rear tire is pretty bad even by my standards but I was just unlucky on the Caldera Defense as the big flint that busted the tire would go through pretty much anything. In summary after my brief romance with Caldera I would say this is not a bad tire. for commuting or winter training and felt lighter than it actually was, it also seemed well made, if I had to criticize it I would have liked to see a harder compound on the tread but for most road conditions the caldera would be fine, overall 3 out of 5.
