Does not work best on fish and aquatic animals

I immediately applied the sticker to check the temperature in the aquarium. It never worked. It stayed black the whole time. I re-read the instructions to make sure I should place it outside the tank and if there was anything else I needed to do the answer was no. Maybe it's only for glass tanks, mine is plastic.
