Review on πŸ“‘ Tram 1410 Broadband Discone Base Antenna for Scanners by Donald Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This antenna is great value for the price paid.

I installed this antenna in the attic of a one story house and ran 100ft of RG6 Quad Shield cable. Using a UHF male to F female adapter I was able to connect the RG6 to the antenna and then to my Uniden scanner on the other end as well as my USB ATSC TV tuner adapter. The antenna can receive almost all FM radio, VHF and UHF TV broadcasts in my city, as well as multiple ham radio bands, air traffic controllers, GMRS/MURS, NOAA weather broadcasts from cities up to 70 miles away. , railways, including dispatchers and train crews, as well as track system defect detectors, are also clearly audible. There is only one TV channel that I don't get on about 50% of the time and it's 2 counties away on the opposite side of town. While I do not transmit through this antenna I am very happy with this antenna and would buy it as a gift for anyone wanting to start listening to amateur radio.

Pros
  • UHF Jack (SO-239)
Cons
  • Damaged
