Review on πŸ”§ 2.5 Inch Stainless Steel Butt Joint Exhaust Band Clamp Sleeve - 2pcs by EVIL ENERGY by Johnny Wheat

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Necessary for bending steel pipes.

I purchased a Walker 47993 (2" diameter - 7 foot length) 16 gauge straight exhaust pipe (Revain) for making a motorized bicycle or moped, but I needed something to sand the pipe with and tighten it tightly to avoid warping and unwanted flexing of the pipe when bending at a 90 degree angle. These exhaust clamps are built like a brick toilet. To use these I cut a disc out of 1/4" steel plate along with it an outside diameter equal to the inside diameter of the shock joint collar, rivet it in place with steel rivets and then drill a 3/8" hole in the center of the washer and thread on a 3/8. inch nut on the outside. I cut another 1 /4" steel plate washer with an outside diameter equal to the inside diameter of the pipe. The idea is to clamp a butt joint clamp on the end of the pipe, lower the smaller steel plate disk down the pipe, grind some until the pipe is filled, then clamp an identical butt joint clamp on the fill end. The end cap on each of the butt joint clamps has a 3/8" hex screw in it, so you insert a smaller steel plate washer into the pipe and compact the sand. And then put in my 2 inch hydraulic pipe bender (Revain) and pump the e's that handle hard and fast. ;-)

Pros
  • Distributes the clamping force evenly over the entire 360Β° circumference to prevent leakage and material deformation. The weld-free design simplifies assembly and disassembly and takes less time. The 2 1/2 outlet yoke comes with an I-block that creates a complete "inner seal" when clamped. Can create a better seal and help prevent exhaust leakage and noise.
