Review on 🔪 Folding Karambit Knife: Fox 599 G10 Black with Emerson Wave by Rusty Smith

Pros: Well made, solid construction, well designed to fit the hand of either of the two main handles you will be using. Very sharp. Very high build quality. Exactly what you would expect from a knife of this type at this price, except. Cons: The opening mechanism is very, very tight. Even loosening the tension screw and lubricating the knife opener didn't help much (although it did increase blade play, so I tightened it again). Because of this, the flipper doesn't work well and you have to use Emerson Wave to open it - that hook will catch your bag and open it. However, because the opening mechanism is so tight, you have to pull it out of your pocket with surprising force, and there are two problems with that. 1.) Pulling the knife out with that much force will make you look like a madman at work, and 2.) If you don't pull the knife aggressively enough, it could open halfway and you will cut yourself, what I did. .As I found out by accident, this is a very powerful weapon that can inflict very bloody cuts with surprisingly little power. So, in summary I have to give this knife a 2. I'd happily give it an A, but the difficulty of opening it makes it cumbersome as a tool and possibly unreliable as a self-defense weapon - if you try to open this thing by taking it out of your pocket and it opens 1/ 2 or 2/ 3 of the way and you will cut your hand, if you slide your hand down to grab the knife you will be confused and dead. And if you miss the edge of your bag in a very stressed situation, I hope you have two hands free and some time to open it, as the flipper action is too tight to easily open with one hand. You can use a fin if you follow the movement with a sharp flick of your wrist, but at this price point you really don't have to. I've never seen a knife in this price range that even comes close to doing such a difficult opening (or any difficult opening at all), which is a shame because otherwise it's basically perfect.
