Review on ๐Ÿƒ XOSS Optical Armband Heart Rate Monitor: Bluetooth 4.0 & ANT+ Wireless Health Accessories for Fitness Tracking by Steven Kile

Very disappointed, doesn't always measure heart rate

I used the MIO Fuse for quite a while until one day the heart rate sensor stopped working. As this product is no longer manufactured, it is time for a different model. After some research I chose this product, it was cheaper than other optical HR sensors, and I believed that optical HR sensor technology is well known, XOSS should be able to get it right. Boy was I wrong. Having previously used a heart rate monitor, I knew roughly what my heart rate should be for the cadence and resistance I use on my bike. At first the XOSS tracked what I was expecting, then after about 10 minutes of constant cadence/resistance (heart rate around 130bpm) the heart rate reading dropped to 120, then 90, then 85, then 60! He stayed there for a good five minutes. I thought okay, I just need to tweak it. I've moved it higher up the arm than down, tightening and loosening that strap, I even rotated it so the sensor was on the underside of the arm (yes, I shaved the hair on the upper arm first). Every time I turned off XOSS and then turned it back on. Nothing worked, every time I turned it back on it read what I expected and then dropped to an unrealistically low heart rate. I tried again today, but this time I put the sensor on my wrist (where the Mio Fuse sensor is). The same problem, at first it reads normally, then it drops to 50 or even 40! I give up. Now I'm looking for another product and will spend another $60-$70 to get a (hopefully) better product. Don't waste your money on this product! Invest in the best product from the start; You only have to buy one.
