The power and speed is what I've come to expect from a small food slicer. I had a ten year old folding cutter that worked just as well, if not better. I tried to cut the unfrozen ham the same way I did my folding cut. The serrated blade cut through the ham but also left some dust/chunks of ham but still cut it. Worst of all is the thickness of the backing/panel. It flexes/flexes a bit so your slices are the specified thickness at the bottom and about 1/16 inch more at the top. I've tried to keep the plate from moving but this makes cutting very difficult. If you try to cut the ham less than 1/16 inch you will end up with only small pieces/chunks of meat. My old $50 folding cutter works better and can cut very thin, even slices. Oh, and you need to turn off the food slicer after 5 minutes of use and let it cool for 10-15 minutes according to the directions. My old folding device works without interruption. I thought it would make cutting easier, but it isn't. He was returned. Thanks Revin
