The Audio-Technica LP60, which I've used as my main player for the past few years, recently blew up for good. When looking for a new turntable I wanted something more modular than the LP60 but didn't really feel the need to upgrade to something too expensive. I listen to vinyl because I love it, not because I'm a cenobite obsessed with punishing my bank account by trying to make imperfect media sound perfect. Crossley had good reviews, so I went with it. And I'm really glad I did. It rotates steadily and constantly. The built-in preamp could use a bit more power, but it's easily bypassed if you want to use an external one. The cartridge it came with sounded about the same as the LP60 cartridge. I went further and upgraded to an Ortofon Omega just to get some extra bass. Sounds fantastic. I am really very satisfied with this player.
