Description does not match product

When I ordered a hose, the column "often bought together" indicated that the outlet adapter I ordered would fit the hose I ordered. The description is not good for the part because it doesn't give you the diameter of the hose. It only gives you the dimensions for the shipping box, but the description next to the part has different dimensions than the dimensions below under the product information. When I received the adapter, the inner diameter was 3.5 inches and the hose was 2.5 inches. They don't work together so why do they suggest using them together and why isn't the diameter listed for each?
