Review on PacTool SS204 Cement Snapper Cutting Tool by Will Rahman

Learning curve required

I have never used mechanical scissors to cut fiber cement products. I used special saw blades and jigsaw blades. We all know they're a mess and they don't last long either. I bought this tool to make long slots in hardboard and also to make my own custom shapes. My first haircut was perfect. The second cut was terrible. It wasn't a clean cut and the cut edge was crooked and unusable. This went on for a few more cuts until I gave up and went back to the saw. Later, I studied the piece of paper that came with the instrument, hoping to find answers. They didn't offer any tips or instructions on how to use it. They mentioned changing the blade but didn't say anything about how to use it. Later, after further experimentation, I found that the key to the tool was holding the back of the scissors pressed against the product. If this is raised, then the cut is distorted. Of course, it's a little tricky when you start cutting because you don't have to press anything on the tool. After a while you'll understand. Accurate cuts - as I saw on the video - just don't happen. They can come close, but not perfect. Maybe it also needs practice? I tried cutting out some shapes but got mixed results and decided not to even try, opting for a jigsaw instead. Another problem is waste. The tool removes approximately 1/4 inch of product during the cut. It rolls right out of the tool, blocking your view of where you are cutting. So you have to slow down or stop to get it out of the way. I think that's also the reason for my imprecise cuts. In general everything is fine. I think the manufacturers should have included some sort of guide on how to use it - don't just assume the buyer knows about it. How much will it cost? 10 cents? 25 cents? I don't think I got my money's worth with the tool, and I probably won't. This is a tool that requires a lot of practice.
