I've never used silicone tubing before and don't think I'll go back to crappy plastic tubing after that. I like these a lot better. It fits better on the air pump so there are no leaks, and there are many attachments that allow you to connect multiple lines to multiple pumps if needed. I had more than enough thought to make three separate lives for the filters and I left. So far I've been able to keep my cats away from them with fingers crossed.
