Literally bought this as a backup for my husband while he was kayaking down the creek. He mentioned running into a ledge and nearly losing it. It arrived on Saturday so he wanted to try it out today (Sunday) and pack it in a kayak. It took 21 minutes before it broke at the plastic to metal junction! He didn't trip over a rock, oyster bed, or sand. He said he barely had time to get very far because he was looking for fish. I didn't expect it to last years, but at least I can get it back to the point of entry in an emergency. Very disappointed
