This actually worked on 2 different BMWs. Save a ton of money by going to the dealer to have a new key programmed. My son bought a blank key for his 1999 BMW. He still had the old key, so he could take the little chip from the new key and put it in his old key and then use this device to program it into the ECU. If he didn't have his old key he could program the new key into the ECU, but he would also have to cut out the new key to fit the ignition and I don't know how that works. It will probably have to be done at the dealer and will cost an arm and a leg. He cheaply bought another BMW that wouldn't start. He could also reprogram this machine. Can't speak for the ease of use but it worked and saved me a lot of hassle and hundreds of dollars I spent on the merchant.
