It just doesn't clean as well as a brush.
I know, I know. Bristles Bristles are dangerous. My next step is a wood cleaner, but it won't scratch the surface like a bristle brush. I have tried both the ceramic grate with porcelain grates and the gas grill with stainless steel. I still have to pull out the regular brush to clean everything off the grill. I hate to complain because it seems really well made, but I don't think it's good enough for removing dirt from the grilles.
