In general, I got what I signed up for. This is a PCIe Gen 3.0 x1 adapter. So expect all NVMe M.2 SSDs to be significantly slower due to the limitations of the bus itself. The 3.0 x1 generation is rated at just under 1GB/s, including all overhead and ECC, and you get an effective sequential read/write speed of around 800MB/s. But that's not all. The random performance of the Q1D1 is what matters most for everyday use. And this adapter had no impact on this performance at all. I got the same random q1d1 performance versus using the same SSD on the PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 lanes (I had to drop this because I was using the slot for something else and hence why I would need it). So expect a slower copy of large files, but otherwise get the same performance. My only loss of 1 star for this is the annoying green BRIGHT LED.
