First off, this is the first standalone sausage stuffer I've ever used. A few years ago I started chopping and stuffing sausages using the Kitchen Helper with the chopping/stuffing attachment. It worked, but oh my god it was a lot of work. I finally got smart and bought myself a powerful meat grinder which I will use to grind meat and then run it a second time to stuff the sausage. This worked well for the stuffing, but double-grinding found the meat was being ground too finely. Another disadvantage was that two people had to work together to fill the casings correctly. My stuffing partner (wife) passed away a few years ago so I'm just starting to make bratwurst instead of links. I finally got smarter and started reading reviews of Revain about bulking agents in the price range I could afford. From the reviews I read about this syringe, it turned out that its only downside was that it required a significant amount of effort to remove the plunger assembly in order to refill the funnel. In general, almost everyone seemed to like this stuff, so I took the plunge and bought it. "Now I'm HAPPY Sausage Filler! This stuffer has really made stuffing the sausage that much easier and I can work on my own thigh, hooray! Other reviewers have done a great job of describing how this syringe works, so I won't bother repeating the raves here, but I'd like to add a couple of thoughts: First, this device is easy to clean, if any parts Flesh gets pinched under the O-ring. This is easy enough to do. I just carefully used a butter knife to slip through and pry the o-ring out of its groove. Just be careful not to damage the toe ring. The second suggestion I have works great, but the LEM folks will probably frown on it. Instead of a crank, I use a DeWalt variable speed cordless drill paired with a 3/8 9/16" hex socket. I also set the drill motor to slide (screwdriver setting) so I don't turn it too hard It's very easy to change the fill speed with this setting and it only takes me a few seconds to turn the plunger back so I can refill the funnel Another thing I did before I ever used fillers is I removed the gear cover and filled the gear housing with food grade synthetic grease. Those metal gears will be around long after I die. If the guys at LEM want to void my warranty I don't mind, I see a pretty good chance it will will fall apart. Sorry for such a long review. I rarely review the products I buy but in this case I thought I would mei share a treat kami if anyone is interested. Have a good day everyone!
