Pretty good but needs a little more

This is the first time I've used a dash kit to install a stereo. The instructions were very good, especially for the first steps in removing the stock stereo. Assembling the dash kit was easy and fitted the space very well. Most just stick together. Disappointment came when I installed the stereo in the dash. None of the mounting options (side screwing of DIN brackets or use of the supplied stamped metal insert) worked. Both options allow the in-dash stereo to hop. I ended up using a metal insert, but only a pair of retractable tabs actually touched any part of the dash, allowing the back of the stereo to oscillate up and down. To solve the problem, I placed pieces of styrofoam under the back of the radio on the plastic compartment of the dashboard. This will prevent the stereo from bouncing up and down on rough roads. I think Metra could do a better job of making the dash kit compatible with the metal DIN adapter jacks that come with all new stereos. These bushings have been standardized and have all eyelets in the same place. So if there were slots in the dash to put these grommets in, the radio would support the radio better.
