Can't cut it well for inverter

I have one of their 2000 watt 24 volt units in a small house in another country. This unit is a beast. But this device is disappointing. I was trying to run a 1000w hob and the meter said 1020w. But after three minutes the device switched itself off. I suspect it has gotten too hot. 1020W is not 1600W.
