Need a security door to create a wider opening or passageway to our living room and staircase. it was important to find something attractive because that's the first thing that catches your eye when you enter our house! Also, the gate is only needed once every two weeks - I was looking for something that could easily fold away when not in use. This security gate was the longest and least awkward I found in my search! So if you have a wider strap to keep little kids out, this is a good option. TBH I'm surprised how hard it was to find a gate that fits the wider opening! The installation is actually not the easiest, you have to be precise! Aside from that... They provide all the tools and instructions you need to succeed on the first try! THE MOST IMPORTANT HELP I FOUND is the "how to too” video on the product page itself. It was only after watching the short video that everything that was written made sense. Don't overlook this as a valuable tool when you're having trouble interpreting instructions. You get the hardware you need (screws and an optional wall mount - a nice touch!) and stencil paper. YOU must provide a tape measure and screwdriver (or drill) to complete the installation - 30 minutes total. Post reading instructions and watch a short video! I appreciate that the gate has a minimalist design with straight, sleek lines with minimal bulk and the thin panel hides the gears and mechanics. Decorated in white it pairs best with a wall of the same color - for us we painted the walls so it's pretty obvious, just there. To be honest I missed this permanent application as I mistook the stencil for glue. Just know that you will be drilling baseboards and drywall! Oh how I wish someone would invent a baby gate that didn't leave a mark! Keep in mind that this is not complete proof if you have an aggressive toddler, it's a fabricated facade and therefore it will scare the kids away once they are in place, but they still need a watchful eye! At the moment I'm sure this will hold a small 18 month old baby safely. What you should consider depending on the needs and age of the vulnerable child. Love how it has a retractable screen with a locking mechanism and x1 can be done by hand. The mechanics seem to work perfectly and as one would hope.
