Review on SunSun HW-704B 525 GPH 5-Stage External Canister Filter with 9W UV Sterilizer: Superior Sun Filtration Solution by Melissa Cormier

I like this canister. I use it in a 55 gallon turtle tank. I had so many issues with the Fluval brand which was my first purchase. After it broke several times within two months, I bought a Sunsun 704b. It was the best decision I've made and the best money I've spent on my turtle. My turtle tank stays clear and clean and smells fresh. It's been working for me since July and I've only had to take it apart once to clean it. I also bought an "Eheim 6664 Prefilter" to put on the end of my intake. It also changed the word. It catches a lot of things and keeps my canister a lot cleaner. I clean this part once a week. I skim off the foam and wash them with dish soap. I got from the bottom tray: 4 - pink Aqua-Flo pond and aquarium filter media, 3 - more pink filter media plus 24 oz premium lab-grade super activated carbon in some pantyhose legs, 2 - pury biospheres in more pantyhose, and 1 is a matrix. It works great for me and my turtles' water is crystal clear. Initially I had problems filling it, so I filled the canister and the inlet hose with water and then connected it. If the inlet hose is filled with water, no priming is required. It's just really starting. Piece of the cake! In my opinion it is much better than Fluval. I spent so much money on Fluval and it was a complete waste of money. One last thing - I don't know what it's called but there is some sort of fly at the inlet that is supposed to float on water instead of air I think. I removed it completely and inserted a piece of PVC pipe. Air was escaping in this area. After I put the PVC directly into the water, the problem was solved. Regardless, if I could give more than 5 stars I would.
