Review on 🔌 gofanco Prophecy HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor Converter & Repeater - Supports 4K 60Hz, HDR, HDMI 2.0a, HDCP 2.2 by Ryan Turner

I had high hopes for this as I own several other Gofranco AV devices and enjoy using them. First, the instructions are incomprehensible and very short. I also think the setting to enable audio extractor is reversed as I couldn't work when I enabled it. After playing with the device for a few hours, everything worked for me. Even though it reported that my audio player supports 5.1, when I ran the Dolby 5.1 audio test I could only hear the left and right channels. When I connect an HDMI cable to my new receiver, I get full 5.1 audio. Either this device does not properly extract sound and convert it to optical, or it's still not properly configured. Intended that in EDID-5.1 pin 1 is off, pin 2 is on and then pin 4 is on for optical output. I gave it two stars as it seems well made and I love that it can be powered from a USB port. I just couldn't get it to work beyond stereo.
