As a software developer, I sit at my laptop and often find myself on the couch. A laptop sitting directly on you can get uncomfortable and very warm after a while, not to mention finding a good surface to use your mouse on. Finding the right adjustment with this very well designed laptop desk, whether both sides need to be the same height or one side needs to be adjusted slightly differently due to differences in the finish of your sofa, makes it very easy to align the metal top tray. My laptop gets very hot, so the large fan helps with ventilation. The top of the mouse pad is covered with a soft, non-slip material, so my mouse stays in place under normal conditions. Before deciding on this one, I used several tables in the same style. I am very happy with my choice.
