Blue low beam - ashtray

For driving a Taurus station wagon with steering column shift and plenty of space in the center console. There were 4 coasters. Unfortunately, it's dated and derelict, and I ended up with a Toyota crossover with an awkwardly placed, oddly shaped shifter that eats up most of the central space, limiting me to just two cup holders with no real additional ashtray space. , which I didn't consider when I bought it. Because the center shift area protrudes and creates a shadow, not only is the center pitch black during night driving, but I kept hitting the shift area with the end of a cigarette while trying to touch the ashtray in the dark. Since I didn't want to damage my new car, I looked for and found this ashtray. It plugs into what used to be a place for a lighter (cars don't come with them or ashtrays anymore), and the charging cable is more than long enough. Because there wasn't room in the middle, I attached a packing string and it still extends to the cup holder. Its height prevents me from cramming it into the small space under the bulge. It has a faint blue glow around the edge so you can see exactly where to hit the ash. Ideal! Exactly what I was looking for. There is also a small lighter built into the top of the lid. I honestly didn't know it had it when I ordered it, so that was a nice little perk. It's not as big a hot spot as your standard car lighter, this area doesn't glow, it's flush. comes with a lid and requires a bit of fiddling to get it off and the lid has to be lowered to get to it. So I only use it when the car is parked or someone else is driving. Its placement would be better either on the inside of the lid or on the outside side panel than on the top and it would have its own shine to be seen and make it easier to use as you really can't fiddle with it if you're trying to drive. It also has a very small space in the rim where you need to stub out your cigarette. It could be a bit wider because you have to have a really good aim as it doesn't have its own glow either. At least I do it by touch while driving (I'm not one of those idiots who toss cigarette butts in the slipstream). It's a little higher than I thought when I ordered it. I could easily get more than one pack of fags if I was lazy and didn't want to drain it for long. However, due to its height, it is problematic to store a half-smoked cigarette in it, as it will fall to the ground and have to be dug up. The outer part is simply wiped clean and remains shiny. I didn't clean the inside because I'm pretty sure I shouldn't submerge anything electronic. Hey, it's an ashtray and it has a lid to hide any ash that's left over when it's emptied. a car with an unfortunate design flaw in the middle. I've had it for about a year and the blue glow continues to glow. I hope that the higher price will keep it shining for many years to come. If/if not I'll try to remind myself to come back and clarify how long it's been.
