This is the only cartridge I've used on my Dual 622 that I've brought back to life so I really only have a Sony PS LX300USB and another P-mount player (with elliptical needle) to compare sound and features. It sounds a lot better than Sony's tapered stylus as the 540ML has no internal groove distortion. It tracks better than the Sony (which doesn't have anti-skating). I was annoyed that Sony missed two of my favorite records that I bought new. This cartridge tracks great. It also requires a lot less downforce at 2g. I measured 4.4 grams at Sony. It sounds better that way, the tracks are better and smoother on my records. A P-mount turntable with an elliptical stylus works well, but it picks up more detail in the grooves, for better or worse. For a turntable that I use casually on occasion, I might use a less expensive elliptical stylus. I sit down at the record player, listen and want to enjoy, I'm very happy with this cartridge.
