What to expect for the price

The unit I received was assembled slightly incorrectly, the pot handles are not perfectly centered with slots for the fry basket. It's fine, it doesn't affect the operation of the fryer (and the whole set is actually a lot less flimsy than it looks). The big problem is that the basket sticks too tightly to the pot when placed in the draining position. This requires some effort both when resting and when retrieving the basket, so contents can become airborne if restraint is not exercised. Again, this isn't exactly a deal breaker, as my method has always been to simply slide a ceramic plate under a raised basket before removing it from the pot, and then collect the accumulated oil for reuse later. Not to mention, the basket hook itself will drip hot oil as soon as it's removed, so placing it over the rim of a drip pan is just an invitation to an oil fire (or at least a mess) anyway. While the pot itself has a 4 liter capacity, I would say a safe amount to fill is about 1.5 liters (48 ounces) of oil, about 2 1/8 inches inside. The fry basket is above the bottom of the pot, this only leaves about 1 5/8" cooking depth before adding the ingredients to the fryer, about enough for the cost of a pound I think. Perhaps you could put more oil in the Pot pour pot but even 2 liters might be too much as the oil can foam all over the food I wish I could be more specific here but this kit does not come with an instruction manual just a cleaning and care guide for the different materials used be used at Easter product line "D'oh! An interesting feature that is difficult to distinguish from the standard photo is that the bottom of the pot is domed like a cauldron. Nice touch, I suspect this shape increases efficiency in a way unique to the deep frying process. And I don't know if it's just a coincidence that the bottom contact area is the same 6 1/2" diameter as the middle/smaller rings on my Whirlpool glass top, which makes this Oster Sangerfield frypan the most energy efficient for found this electric stove.
