It has a nice satin finish, it's not cold metal or smooth plastic. That's what it says in the listing. It works well. But I think it has a design flaw, because when you want to put it in your pocket or purse, it has a button on the side that turns on the flashlight and drains the battery. So I think it would be nice to have a cover or slide that clicks when you move it? The instructions say the lid latch is a button to start the lighter, but that's not it, it's a black button on the side, I added a clip to attach it to keys or a pocket, it came with a cord for a necklace.
