After reading some reviews I was a bit nervous about ordering this remote for my 2004 Buick Park Avenue but decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did. The remote came as it should. It came with a card that had a website where you could find instructions on how to program the remote. When I went to their website it said I would have to take the remote to a dealer or locksmith for programming. But a quick google search and I found simple instructions on youtube. You are next. With the car off, connect pins 4 and 8 of the OBDII port under the dash using a paper clip or jumper cable (you can find a diagram of the OBDII port and corresponding pins online). Turn the key to the "On" position. (but don't start the engine) and you'll immediately hear the door lock cycle. This tells you that you are in programming mode. Then simultaneously press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the new remote for about 30 seconds. You will hear the door locks click again. The remote control is now programmed. If you have another remote, older or newer, for the SAME vehicle, you must now program that remote using the same method. When you're done, turn off the key, remove the paperclip, and you're done. I must add that initially I had trouble getting the machine into programming mode. Turns out the paper clip I was using had a thin clear coating, probably to prevent rust, and was preventing the connection. After I removed the coating with my fingernail everything was fine. If you use a jumper wire you shouldn't have any problems. Overall a great purchase. The remote control works perfectly and appears to be of the same quality as the original. It took me longer to find the paperclip than to program the remote. lol! And the last. Your vehicle must be equipped with remote door openers. While remote door fobs are standard on new vehicles, this is not necessarily the case on older vehicles. If you've had a remote control for your car in the past, no problem, but just because you have power door locks, don't assume you also have the ability to use a remote control. The necessary equipment (radio receiver) must be installed in the car from the start. I think some of the people who left negative reviews about this non-working remote control either didn't follow the instructions properly or their car never had a remote control door opener. FYI: This remote control comes with a battery installed.
