broken door; must be returned

It's hard to find a *stock* microwave that fits in a space where my kitchen can accommodate a microwave. My 25 year old Emerson just stopped walking two weeks ago. The only Emerson I can find right now is too big. Since then I've been looking EVERYWHERE from time to time. I chose this Toshiba at Revain simply because life is too short to spend more time looking for a microwave. It fit the counter, the budget, and my microwave needs. Unfortunately we have to go back. I'll start with the positive things first. Pros: - Arrived with Prime as expected. - Decent price. - Matte black looks elegant and works with other lights. Not shiny, not pitch black. - Not too loud. - Quickly heated a cup of water in my batter. - The handle is easy to open. There is no movement when opening the door, but I've only used it once! Cons: - Steam from the heated water in my test leaked through the top of the door! i have a bad one The door is not sealed or installed incorrectly. But if steam can escape, guess what else can! I was just thinking of an exchange for another, but. ---- No "Start" or "Stop" button. As far as I can tell the only way to stop the cycle is to open the door. That seems wrong to me. ---- The keyboard does not respond to the first press. I actually had to click on the option I wanted (drink). I don't think the keyboard will last very long. ----- The keyboard is *not* easily visible in the corner of my kitchen. Very dark. I'll just grab Black and Decker at half price, it's in stock at the next two stores, and I can pick it up tomorrow. I don't want to live without a microwave anymore and I certainly don't want to spend much time looking for one.

Pros
  • quality construction
Cons
  • sad packaging
