4.5 stars, don't save, take!

I really wish there were half stars because it really needs 4.5 stars, not 4. The only reason I took off a [half] star is because it says it doesn't scratch, and I found something that scratches: my baking sheets. I tried it on them to get rid of the sticky brown stuff that sticks to the pans and doesn't want to come off easily. It seemed to work for this, but it also scratched the surface, so I think I'm stuck with some discoloration on my baking sheets. For that reason I don't know if I would recommend it for any type of stainless steel pan, I haven't tried it but after baking sheet metal I would be suspicious of using it on my instant pan or similar metal. pots pans. Now that the "bad" is over, let's move on to the good! This thing is great for cast iron. BUT, it won't even remove a piece of cast iron that's peeling off the plating due to using cooking spray, which is good because it means it doesn't actually remove the plating you've worked so hard on. Tip: Don't use cooking spray on cast iron, I wish I'd known that a few years ago when I first started cooking with it. live and learn If you're letting your food dry in the pan after cooking, you'll definitely need some grease to clean the pan with, but it works fantastic if you immediately obsess and compulsively clean up. Basically what I'm saying here is that I'm still learning cast iron by trial and error - mostly mistakes, but I'm getting better. ;-) Buy one of these, you won't regret it, although it seems expensive compared to other versions here. And being able to just toss it in the dishwasher every now and then is a huge win in my book. PS The thing also feels oddly comfortable, almost soft and silky. Not what I think of when I think of kitchen scrubbers, but here you are.
