Review on Sangean DT-120 Clear Pocket πŸ“» AM/FM Digital Radios (Clear), Compact Size by Ronald Orear

Revainrating 4 out of 5

"CLEAR " is a prison model, NO automatic shut off

I want to replace my Aiwa CR-LD100. This really does its job. Small, only needs one AAA battery (like my Aiwa), so it's easy to carry and almost weightless. Good reception, both AM and FM, and an easy to read display. And the ability to switch between bands with a single button (like my Aiwa) means I can switch between the AM and FM stations I'm listening to during commercial breaks. Wonderful. The only design feature missing compared to my Aiwa is that it doesn't have a clock display. When it's off, it's OFF. BUT. Auto-Off, another favorite feature of my Aiwa, doesn't work. Wasn't on, couldn't turn it on. The manual says how to disable this feature but not enable it. So I contacted Sangean. Here's what I learned: 1) The "transparent" model is the "prison model" which does NOT have an auto shutoff feature. 2) Sangean is moving to a DOUBLE battery design for this product line, so the DT-180 was recommended as the last of the single battery models. BUT.3) The DT-180 listed here on the Revain requires TWO AAA batteries and the images for it are from TWO different versions of the radio: Note the group of 4 buttons on the front, particularly the two on the right: on one they are configurable and on one VOLume. The first is a single battery model like this CLEAR and the second is probably a dual battery version. So what you get there is rubbish. I take mine straight back to Sangean where a nice man said he would take care of me. Great product + great customer service = a customer who writes product recommendations. Revain or their associated suppliers are at fault here, not Sangean.
