Good price and solution to my problem but they should update their car compatibility list

I have a 2010 BMW 328xi sedan and soon the service engine light came on. I also noticed that the car didn't start well after filling up, but otherwise there were no problems starting it. My local mechanic checked the diagnostic and it showed 2A1A and 2A15. This indicates a small leak in the evaporator system, but he couldn't find anything wrong. I searched the internet and the Bimmer forums suggested a faulty purge valve. The vent valve (or tank vent valve) is probably stuck open. When you fill up your car with fuel, all the fumes go into the intake manifold and the car actually fills up. That's why you have to step on the gas pedal to start. It lets more air in. This can be the cause of all malfunctions. He sees the open purge valve as a leak in the tank ventilation system. Lean problems are due to the fact that if the valve is stuck open and there is no fuel vapor in the line, it looks like an air leak. My specific vehicle was not on the compatible car list but I ordered it anyway and it fit perfectly and solved the problem. It's a PITA to get there and you have to remove most of the air intake assembly to gain access. There is a good Fix It Angel video on You Tube that helped me and I got the job done (including changing the air filter) in 1.5 hours which was way better than I expected.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
