Let me say one thing right away: This device does NOT require a lock. used to power the attached hard drive. Not sure why the reviews on this are so confusing/controversial but on my personal record I didn't have to lock the door to turn on the hard drive. Maybe people get racks upside down with the power button? This stand did exactly what I needed. Installed in my case it looks great. I put the connected LED cable aside as I didn't want to figure out how to connect it to the motherboard and didn't really want to. I placed the shelf vertically with the doorway "up" and was a bit disappointed to find that the door was on a simple hinge and kept closing even when I wasn't holding it. Not a big deal, I'd just say if you're mounting it vertically, mount it with the doorway "down". Popped a hard drive in there and it powered on and connected with no problems. It wasn't very noisy or destructive, but if you have a drive (DVD/Blu Ray) installed next to it I wouldn't try to run both at the same time. This rack allowed me to add some storage to a bay I wasn't using for anything else, it was cheap and that's the best I can say about it.
