East in use but terrible to clean!

I've used it a few times and washed it by hand and in the dishwasher but the food gets stuck in the grates and I can't get out. I have tried washing and soaking by hand and in the dishwasher. I bought because I wanted something easier to clean than my deep fryer and that's an issue too. It was a waste of money.
