Review on Waterproof Slip-On Hiking Boot For Men: KEEN Brixen by David Ramirez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good shoe is perhaps not as good as Keen can do

A few years ago, I bought a pair of Keen Austins. Perfect fit from the moment I put it on, excellent quality. Finally, a shoe that fit. Bought boots. Wore them out. Bought more boots. Bought low tops. All good. So the Brixen seemed like a no-brainer for a kick around the house kind of shoe. However, this shoe, for the first time in a Keen, is not perfect. Perhaps because it is a slip-on, it is sized differently. Maybe things have changed at Keen. But for whatever reason, my first delivery in my usual size turned out to be a half-size large. So I did the quick and easy return. The replacement, a half-size smaller than usual, does fit. But it's not quite the perfect fit one comes to expect from Keen. Perhaps as they break in, I will change my mind. I do hope that the slight rubbing around the ankles goes away with break in, and I also hope Keen tweaks this nice shoe to provide what I have come to expect from them--a perfect shoe that fits to size first time, every time. At this point, the Brixen is not quite that.

Pros
  • I can walk around all day and not get tired
Cons
  • The shoe can be prone to damage from water exposure
