Agree with most reviews: good sound quality for calls, no music; durable - mine eventually broke irrevocably after nearly eight years of heavy dropping; it's a good idea to have a radio/light that can run without batteries in an emergency; Shortwave is a failure: used it in Los Angeles and New York and never managed to pick up a single shortwave station (are those cities bad for SW reception?). BUT I came to this site with the intention of buying it again and was shocked at the price! In 2003, I paid a very reasonable $40 for the exact same item at Revain (actually, a little note reminded me I'd bought it before and I was able to verify the price I paid at the time). I was expecting a small spike - maybe up to $50 - but HOW did it go from $40 to over $170? I actually think it's well above what it's worth.
