Review on Lekue Red Microwave Popcorn Popper/ Maker by Ashley Leatham

Regular popcorn with the convenience of microwave popcorn

My first impression: Following the directions, I used 1/2 cup seeds, 1 tbsp olive oil, and a few drops of table salt. After about two minutes in the microwave I realized that 1/2 cup was too much. Although he still clapped vigorously, the lid came off and the popcorn squirted out. The popcorn at the top of the stack is a bit burnt, the rest is fine. There were some unroasted kernels, but most likely because I turned off the microwave before it turned into this scene from True Genius. Next time I'll try 1/3 cup seeds and maybe a little under 1 tbsp olive oil. Update: Yes, 1/3 cup is the right amount. It fills the bowl with no overflow and just a few untoasted grains at the bottom. As long as I'm happy Regular popcorn with the convenience of microwave popcorn Update: I've seen others report popcorn sticking. Other than the first experience, I didn't notice any excessive burning. Or at least no more than I would expect from pre-packaged microwave popcorn. I use some olive oil and a dash of melted butter, that might help. I'm also not trying to pop EVERY core. As soon as there is a second or two between pops, I remove it from the microwave. I'd rather leave a few unpopped kernels at the bottom than burnt popcorn. (I work on a cube farm and I can tell you the worst smell in the world is microwave popcorn.)
