If you have a Smart TV, any problems that this device might have in this area are irrelevant. Playing discs, whether DVD or Blu-ray, is expectedly easy with excellent picture quality. However, one problem is that lately the player freezes and in addition stubbornly turns on or off when it is on. I would refuse to be thrown out. On the web, Sony suggested a rather cryptic solution (unplug for 30 seconds, then press and hold the eject button while power is restored, then unplug and plug back in to reset the device. Barely intuitive!) It worked, it was but a bit intimidating because it's a plug-in entity. (last one didn't respond to fixes) I just hope this issue doesn't become chronic or worse given what happened to the previous player.
