Revainrating 5 out of 5

Rich, full sound. Simple plug and play setup.

I always use my computer microphone or bluetooth headset. With all the ZOOM meetings and working from home these days, I figured this was an opportunity to test out a higher quality mic. I saw these at Revain and decided it was worth a try as they come with everything - stand, mic, filter. Straight out of the box with a quick install, the mic works as advertised - 100% plug and play with my laptop. To test the difference in sound quality, I opened ZOOM and tested the microphone. I first tested the laptop's built-in mic and enabled playback, then selected a new mic and listened to the playback. I was amazed at the difference! A computer microphone sounds like you're picking up an aluminum can. This USB condenser microphone offers full and rich voice pickup. I was blown away by the difference. I can't tell you how different it is from something like YTI, but it's very different from your computer mic. The setup is pretty convenient too, as you can push the mic away when it's not in use and pull it towards your face when you want to use it. Another great feature is that the microphone is sensitive enough to pick up your voice when you're looking at the monitor and speaking - no need to shout into the microphone. After testing the mic for about a week, I've also learned a few things to consider. 1) The microphone is sensitive (like all condenser microphones) so it picks up background noise (e.g. a loud fan). 2) The status definitely needs to be updated. It's great that it comes with a kickstand, but I'd say it's probably entry-level or slightly better. It works well, but I've noticed that the mic starts to sag at times. From time to time you will need to tighten the screws with your fingers. I did a bit of research to look for the best coasters and they cost more than this entire setup alone. 3) You can mute/unmute the microphone by pressing and holding the volume buttons. If you can't hear anything on your recording, look at the blue light to confirm it's on and press and hold the volume button to unmute. In general, the microphone + stand set is excellent. The microphone delivers rich, full sound and the stand works as it should. It's 100% plug and play... all you have to do is set it up and plug it in.
